UN Deputy Secretary-General Condemns Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza Strip

The United Nations deputy secretary-general, Amina Mohammed, has voiced grave concerns over the dire humanitarian situation unfolding in the Gaza Strip. In a press conference at the UN headquarters, Mohammed lamented the loss of the international community's "moral compass" regarding Gaza, stressing the urgent need for action to address the crisis. She highlighted the alarming number of children being killed and injured in the ongoing conflict, emphasizing the urgent need for intervention to protect innocent lives. The UN's call for a humanitarian ceasefire echoes the sentiments expressed by Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who described the situation as the "highest number of people facing catastrophic hunger ever recorded." The report underscores the urgent need for immediate action to alleviate the suffering of the besieged population in Gaza.
